More than 50 years ago, ritterwerk developed the first prototype of its peeler, which has proven its value over the decades. At that time, the patented ritter peeler was one of the first with a horizontal blade. This made it suitable for both right- and left-hand operation. It is still made in the same way today. The only difference: the blade is now stainless, making it exceptionally durable. The handle is made of plastic and sits ergonomically and comfortably in the hand.

The blade of the peeler is made out of stainless steel, making it exceptionally durable. Due to its special shape and sharpness and the narrow gap between the blades, the food is peeled in a particularly gentle, optimum and economical way.

With its ergonomic shape, the peeler sits in the hand especially well, which is due not least to the high-quality and stable plastic.

To remove damaged spots or sprouts quickly and easily, the peeler also has an eye remover on its plastic handle.

The ritter peeler is suitable for both right- and left-hand operation. The flexibility of the blade means anyone can use it.

Why „sparing peeler“? What does it mean?
In Germany, the peeler is known as a sparing peeler. This is because the narrow gap between the sharp blades allows for the food to be peeled very thinly. It is therefore peeled very “sparingly”.
What material is the peeler made of?
The handle of the peeler is made of high-quality plastic, while the special mobile blade is made of stainless steel.
Is the peeler suitable for left handers?
The flexibility of the blade makes the peeler suitable for right- and left-hand operation.
Can the peeler be put in the dishwasher?
Yes, the peeler can be put in the dishwasher.
How thick is the peeling thickness?
The peeling thickness depends on the nature of the material to be peeled (hard or soft) and the pressure which is exerted on the peeler.
Can the blade of the peeler be replaced?
Yes, the blade can be replaced.
Can the blade of the peeler be sharpened?
No, the blade cannot be sharpened but it can be replaced if it becomes blunt.
What is the eyelet on the peeler for?
The eyelet (eye lifter) on the side of the peeler is designed to remove potato eyes or discolourations. It can also be used to hang up the peeler to save storage space.
Can the blade rust?
All foods contain food acids, salts and moisture that can attack the material of the blade. We recommend cleaning the peeler thoroughly under warm water after use. Otherwise, so-called rust film can form even on stainless steel.
