Founded in April 1919 from Walter Gropius in Weimar the Bauhaus is celebrating now its 100th year. From foundation, the Bauhaus saw itself as a part of the modern movement and as its mediator. Art should once again serve a social role, and there should no longer be a division between the crafts-based disciplines. Everyone now looking at the story of the Bauhaus knows that the objective back then was not just to create something artistic. It was much more about intellectual freedom, progress, and breaking away from overly strict societal structures.
